Grapevine Jeweler
Privacy Policy
We buy fine jewelry, diamonds, watches, gold, and designer handbags from people who come to a private office in Grapevine. This page says what information that involves.
- We use what you send us to answer you, set an appointment, evaluate a piece, pay you, and keep the records a precious-metals dealer is required to keep.
- We do not sell personal information, and we do not run a mailing list.
- You do not have to tell us why you are selling.
- If you complete a sale, Texas and Grapevine rules can require your name, address, a description of the piece, the price, and a copy of a government photo ID.
- This website does not set advertising cookies today. Confirming an appointment on the homepage sends the details to Cal.com, which has its own notice.
- To ask what we have, or to ask us to correct or delete something we are allowed to delete, email [email protected] or call (817) 555-0196.
Who We Are
Grapevine Jeweler, LLC operates as Grapevine Jeweler, a private buyer in Grapevine, Texas. There is one buyer. That person evaluates pieces, makes the offer, and handles the records described here.
The office address, hours, phone number, and email on this website are the ones to use. Licensed precious metals and secondhand dealer, registered with the Grapevine Police Department. License no. 48-9084. When we publish a license number, it is also printed in the footer.
This website describes the business and lets you call, text, or book a time. It does not take payment, it does not have an account or a cart, and it does not sell jewelry to the public.
Information You Give Us
What we receive depends on how you contact us and whether a sale happens.
Calls, Texts, and Email
If you call, text, or email, we receive your phone number or email address, the time of the message, and whatever you write or say. People often send a short description of a piece, a photograph, a preferred time, or a first name. That is enough to prepare for a visit. You can refuse to send a photograph and still book.
You do not have to explain why you are selling. A divorce, an estate, or a need for cash is your business. If you choose to tell us, we treat it as confidential. We do not use it in advertising, we do not use it to set the offer, and we do not repeat it to other clients.
Booking an Appointment
The “Book an appointment” buttons on the homepage open a form on this site. You pick a time, then give your name, phone number, email address, and, if you want, a short note. We send that appointment to Cal.com, Inc., which holds the time on our calendar and can send a confirmation and a reminder. We receive the same details so we know who is coming and how to reach you if the time has to change. On this page, the booking button leaves our site and opens Cal.com. Cal.com’s own notice, which also covers its cookies, is at cal.com/privacy (opens in a new tab).
You can skip the scheduler and arrange a time by phone, text, or email. The appointment is the same either way.
At the Office
If you bring pieces in, we see the items and we may photograph them so the written offer describes the right thing. We may note metal, stones, stamps, weight, condition, brand, and papers that came with the piece. Those notes are about the merchandise.
If you accept an offer, we need enough information to pay you and to complete a dealer record. That can include your legal name, address, phone number, a description of what you sold, the price, the date, how you were paid, and a copy of a current government-issued photo identification. We ask for identification because the law requires it for covered purchases, including precious metals. We do not take a card number from you. We are paying you, by check, cashier’s check, or wire, as arranged when you book.
If you decline the offer, you leave with your pieces. We may keep a short note of the visit, such as the date and a general description, so we can honor a written offer for the period printed on it (currently seven days, unless the offer itself says otherwise). We do not need your identification to hand you a written offer and let you think about it.
Payment Details
If you want a wire or a check in a particular name, we use the name and the account instructions you give us for that payment only. Our bank sees what it needs to send the funds. We do not use those details for anything else.
Information Collected on the Website
The pages themselves are files we host. Fonts are files on our server, so opening the site does not send your address to a font company. The office maps near the bottom of each page are pictures served by Google Maps. When a map scrolls into view, your browser asks Google for the picture, which sends Google your IP address and the address of the page you are on. Google’s notice is at policies.google.com/privacy (opens in a new tab). Each address is also written out next to its map, and the interactive Google Maps page opens only if you choose the address. On an iPhone or iPad, choosing an address opens Apple Maps instead, which is covered by Apple’s own privacy notice.
Like most sites, the company that hosts these pages can keep a technical log: the date and time, the page requested, the browser type, and the IP address the request came from. We use those logs to keep the site up, to spot abuse, and to fix errors. We do not use them to build a marketing profile or to attach a name to an IP address.
The homepage can show several versions of the same page, for example gold, watches, or handbags. That version is part of the address of the page. If advertising measurement is turned on, as described below, the version can be included so we know which page a call or a booking came from.
Cookies and Similar Tools
A cookie is a small file a site stores on your browser. This website, as published, does not set its own cookies. It does not load Google Tag Manager, a Facebook pixel, or an email-marketing script.
Two exceptions are worth knowing about.
- When you open the booking form on the homepage, this site asks Cal.com which times are open, and sends Cal.com the appointment if you confirm one. The homepage does not load Cal.com’s scheduler script. This privacy page and the accessibility page do not ask Cal.com for times. The booking button here is an ordinary link that leaves our site.
- The site is built so that Google Tag Manager can be turned on later to measure advertising. The switch is off unless a container ID is set in the site configuration. If we turn it on, Tag Manager can load Google tags, set cookies, and receive events we already name in the page: a click on a call button, a click on a booking button, and a submitted request, together with the page version. Those events exist so an ad platform can count a lead. They are not a catalog of what you brought in. Google’s notice is at policies.google.com/privacy (opens in a new tab). If we turn measurement on, we will change the date at the top of this page.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser. Blocking them does not stop you from calling us. It can stop a third-party scheduler from remembering a form you started.
Browsers sometimes send a “Do Not Track” signal. There is no single rule for what a site must do with that signal, and this site does not respond to it with a special setting. The practical control is your browser’s cookie settings, and the choice to call instead of using the scheduler.
How We Use Information
We use information for these purposes:
- To answer a call, text, or email and to hold an appointment.
- To evaluate a piece in front of you and to write an offer.
- To pay you if you accept, and to keep a copy of the offer if you want time to decide.
- To keep the transaction records the law requires of a precious-metals and secondhand dealer, and to provide them to law enforcement when the law requires that.
- To spot stolen goods and to refuse a transaction we are not allowed to complete. Descriptions and identification are part of that.
- To protect the office, the pieces, and the records. Pieces in the office are covered by a jewelers block insurance policy from the time they come in. That insurance is about the jewelry, not a promise about data.
- To know, if we are running ads, which page led to a call or a booking. We do not need your story, and we do not upload customer lists for advertising.
- To fix the website and to answer a privacy or accessibility request.
We do not use your information to train a public model, to score you for other businesses, or to send promotional email or promotional texts. A message about an appointment you asked for is a message about that appointment.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the same uses rest on these grounds: your request that we do something before a contract (answering you and preparing an offer), a contract if you sell to us, a legal obligation when dealer rules apply, and our legitimate interest in running a private buying office, keeping it secure, and measuring ads we pay for. You can object to uses that rest only on legitimate interest. Dealer records are not in that category. We do not seek out people in those regions. If you contact us from there, your information is handled in the United States.
Who Else Receives It
We share information with the people who have to see it to do the job we asked them to do.
- Cal.com, if you book through the scheduler, for the appointment details described above.
- Our phone, text, and email providers, because that is how those messages arrive.
- The company that hosts the website, which holds the pages and the technical logs.
- Our bank, when we pay you by check or wire.
- Our insurer, if a claim involves a piece, and only what the claim needs.
- Google, only if advertising measurement is turned on, and only for the events described in the cookies section.
- A professional adviser (an accountant or a lawyer) when we need one for a real question about the business, under a duty to keep it confidential.
- A buyer of the business, if the company is ever sold, and only so the records can keep being kept lawfully. We would say so on this page.
- Law enforcement and regulators, as the next section describes.
We do not sell personal information for money. We do not share it with other jewelers, with data brokers, or with anyone who wants it for their own ads. Vendors are not permitted to use your information to market their own products to you.
Dealer Records and Law Enforcement
Buying precious metals and secondhand goods in Grapevine is a regulated business. State law and City of Grapevine rules can require a dealer to identify the seller, describe the property, record the price and the date, keep that record for a set period, hold certain items before resale, and make the record available to the police. When a purchase is covered by those rules, we keep the record they describe, including a copy of government photo identification when the rule requires it.
We also share information when a subpoena, a warrant, or another lawful order requires it, or when we believe in good faith that sharing it will prevent a crime, protect someone from harm, or protect the office. If you ask us to delete a dealer record and the law still requires us to hold it, we will tell you that and we will keep it only for that reason.
Identification copies are for those legal records. They are not used to advertise, and they are not used as a general customer database.
How Long We Keep It
- Appointment messages (a text, an email, a scheduler entry) stay long enough to hold the appointment, follow up on a written offer, and resolve a question about it. When there is no sale and no open offer, we delete or de-identify them on a routine pass, generally within a year, sooner if you ask and nothing legal requires us to hold them.
- Photographs and descriptions of pieces you did not sell are kept with the offer while the offer is open, then deleted unless you ask us to keep a description for a later visit.
- Completed purchases are kept for the period dealer, tax, and accounting rules require. That period is longer than a marketing list. When the legal period ends, we destroy the record or reduce it to what the books still need.
- Website logs are kept on the host’s ordinary schedule, which is measured in days or months, not years, and are not tied to a customer file.
- A privacy request is kept long enough to show how we handled it.
How We Protect It
The business is one person in a private office. Records are available to that person and to a vendor only for the job that vendor is doing. The website is served over HTTPS. Identification and transaction papers are not posted on the website and are not emailed around as a habit. If we must send a copy of an offer, we send it to the address you gave us.
No method of storage is perfect. If a breach of personal information happens and the law requires notice, we will notify you and the authorities the law names.
Age
The website is for adults who are considering selling jewelry or similar property. We do not knowingly buy from anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have information about a minor, email us and we will delete what we are allowed to delete.
Your Requests
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we have about you.
- Correct a name, phone number, address, or other detail that is wrong.
- Delete information we are not required to keep.
- Give you a copy of a written offer.
- Stop emailing you. There is no promotional list to leave, so this mainly covers appointment mail you no longer want.
Email [email protected] or call (817) 555-0196. Tell us the name and the phone number or email you used so we can find the right record. We may ask a question only to make sure we are talking to the right person, because these records can include identification. We aim to answer within two business days, and to finish a request within 45 days. If a dealer, tax, or safety rule requires us to keep something, we will say what we are keeping and why, and we will delete the rest.
You can use an authorized agent if you write to us directly confirming that the agent may act for you.
California, Nevada, and Other States
Many states do not have a single general consumer-privacy statute of the California type. Several other states do. We handle requests from any state with the same process as the section above.
California. If the California Consumer Privacy Act applies to a request, you can ask for access, correction, and deletion, and you can appeal a refusal by replying to our decision. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not offer a financial incentive in exchange for personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information, such as a copy of a driver’s license, to infer characteristics or to advertise. Dealer identification is used for the transaction and the legal record. We will not discriminate against you for making a request. You may still decline a sale for the ordinary reasons of the business, including a problem with the piece or a record the law requires.
Nevada. We do not sell personal information as Nevada describes a sale. To send a sale opt-out anyway, use the email address below.
If your state’s law gives you a right to appeal our decision, reply to that decision and write “appeal” in the subject. A second review will not be done by the same first answer when the law requires someone else to look at it. In a one-person business, that review is a fresh look at the file against the statute, and we will tell you the result in writing.
Calls, Texts, and Email
The phone number on this site accepts calls and texts. If you text us, your carrier delivers the message, and your usual message and data rates apply. We read it and we reply about your pieces or your appointment. We do not send promotional text campaigns, we do not use an automatic dialer to market to you, and we do not record calls.
If you book a time, we or Cal.com may send a confirmation or a reminder about that time. That message is part of the appointment you asked for. Tell us if you would rather have the reminder by email than by text, or if you want no reminder at all.
We do not send marketing email. Mail from us is about a visit, an offer, a payment, or a request you made.
Other Websites
Links from this site can open Cal.com, Google Maps, Kitco (when a gold page cites a spot-price source), or a government or disability-rights page. Those sites have their own policies and their own cookies. Once you are on one of them, this notice no longer covers what they collect.
Changes to This Policy
When we change what we collect or who we share it with, we will update this page and the date at the top. The current page is the notice that applies. Continued use of the website after the date changes means the new notice applies to new visits. A dealer record already required by law stays governed by that law.
